The Hydration Campaign is a new effort on behalf of the Kendrick Fincher Foundation to educate and promote hydration among young athletes around the country. Heat related injuries and illness account for many sports injuries and even cause several deaths each year. Most are easily prevented with awareness. That is the goal of the Hydration Campaign.
The Hydration Campaign is intended for school athletic programs of any and all kinds. Coaches can sign up and distribute information to their teams, who then can complete a quiz showing that they know and understand the dangers of the heat. This ensures parents, teachers, coaches and students alike that they can rest easy knowing the young athletes are prepared to handle an emergency heat situation.
If you are a coach, school administrator or teacher, it's easy to get signed up and start educating your student athletes. Just follow the "Coaches" link above and get started. If you are a student, ask your coach and teachers if they have ever heard of The Hydration Campaign. Tell them to check out www.hydrationcampaign.com
The first thing you want to do is enter your information. This will help your students and athletes confirm that you are their coach. Then take the quiz yourself. Finally, print out the instructions for your students & athletes and hand them out as an assignment. You can check online to verify that both the students and their parent or guardian took the quiz online, and also require that a parent or guardian signs the instruction sheet and returns it to you for your records.
